Question: HI,
I am a 55 year old female, very active person. the other day as i was sitting on the couch after work, i got a horrible grabbing pain in the north east direction from my belly button.I couldn't move for about 1/2 hour, then i could slowly move around. I have tried to hide the pain by standing , but when i sit down, its back. it is all in one spot. Not sure what is going on. I have had a hernia before, and it took the dr.s awhile to find that one, so i'm hoping this is not another on.
Thank you,
XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
More likely to be muscle pull, cold compress and tablet diclofenac

Detailed Answer:

Welcome to HCM
I have gone through your query.

It is difficult to diagnose without examination.
Is there tenderness present at the site.
By North East you mean right lower quadrant.

Based on the information provided by you, it appears to be a muscle pull, presently I would suggest you not to strain the affected area, apply cold packs on the area. Take painkiller like diclofenac 50 mg twice daily for two days. With this measures you should improve within a week.

If it persists more than a week or increases in intensity, I would suggest you to see doctor for examination and further help. Then other causes like appendicitis, cyst in ovary, ureteric or bladder stones need to be ruled out, that can be done by an ultrasound abdomen and pelvis.

Hope this helps.
Take care
