Question : Im having difficulty uploading a picture on here, so I'm hoping this helps. I'm in excruciating pain in my right armpit due to what i think is a boil. It's hard, is forming a red rash, and is growing everyday. It started as a pea sized lump 5 days ago, and is getting bigger. It is now approximately 2 inches across for the swelled up portion, and 4 inches across for the hard part underneath. I'm starting to experience fatigue, slight chills, no fever, and the general feeling that I'm getting a cold. Im 28, no major medical conditions, no medications, generally a very healthy person. I've tried using hot compresses everyday, but it isn't helped anything. I've just been taking ibuprofen to try and help with the pain. The pain radiating towards my breast and into my back, and it is difficult to lift my arm up, or move it at all. There's a constant passion with sporadic sharp stabbing like pain that happens every so often. I'm trying to upload a picture to help show what it is.
Brief Answer:
This is an abscess.
Detailed Answer:
Hello!
Thank you for the query.
I am almost 100% sure this lump is an abscess. Due to shaving or some other reason infection in this area appeared. This has caused a lump filled with pus. It grows constantly with strong pain. As this is an infection, leads to chills, fatigue and general cold symptoms.
I suggest you to do not wait with it. Go to ER. The abscess needs to be incised and drained. This will cause instant relief.
Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.

Thank you. I was afraid of that. Will they use some sort of local anesthetics? I can't imagine the pain I'll be feeling if they stick this thing with something sharp. It hurts so bad right now, it makes me feel like I'm going to pass out. Unfortunately i have to fly home today, so I'll be going to urgent care first thing tomorrow.
Brief Answer:
Local anesthesia can be given.
Detailed Answer:
Well, you may ask them to put you to sleep for a while. Sometimes it is possible to give some local anesthetic. For sure they wont do it without any anesthesia.
