Suggest Remedy For Painful Red Bump On Leg

default
Posted on Thu, 24 Dec 2015
Question: I found a red raised bump on my leg (a bit smaller than a dime) with a whitish (pus?) center and a dot in the center of that. It itches somewhat. Painful if pressed. No other symptoms. Is it a spider bite? I remember feeling a sharp pin-prick but just ignored it at the time.

Brief Answer:
Infected small sebaceous cyst with cellulitis.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query and the very clear picture.
It shows the formation of an abscess with the dead skin and the umbilicated 'dot' appearance indicates that it was a small sebaceous cyst that got infected to form an abscess.
The skin around is red showing cellulitis with inflammatory changes.
I do not think that this is due to spider bite.

I hope this answers your query.
