Suggest Remedy For Persistent IBS

Question: hello, I'm new to all this but have suffered with IBS for years, but never sought help. Recently it has become unbearable, bloating, constant pain low abdomen left side. It's all worsened after two colonoscopies and two doses of piccolax followed closely by 2 ovarian ultra sounds. The ovarian scan had to be redone due to excessive gas, neither of them found my one remaining ovary, but by blood test were completely normal, as they were when taken before my colonoscopies. My IBS has been predominantly constipation with bouts of uncontrollable looseness. I also have a stomach hernia which for which I take medication, but since all the investigations this is also much worse. In fact my whole digestive system feels very poorly!! I'm very careful with diet and just about to start low Fodmap foods. I take Psyllium, Aloe, Flaxseeds, digestive enzymes and probiotics. Other suppliments include Krill oil and magnesium and a multi bit. I try to walk daily, but when not well I wish I could just stay in bed! This is the worst I've ever been and really don't know what to do next to relieve the pain. Any suggestions?

Brief Answer:
As detailed below.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query and an elucidate history.
Read and understood about your IBS and associated problems, colonoscopies, scan for ovaries missing one ovary.
Now the history of bloating, pain and all other related problems.
Also noted about medication history, advise of a Naturopath.
I would advise the following in such a situation.
- Get a contrast enhanced CT scan of abdomen. This will help in better diagnosis and finding about the missing ovary. This is superior to ultrasonography.
- Stool tests on 3 consecutive days.
- Please check which of Psyllium, Aloe or Flaxseeds is enhancing your problems. Stop all, try one by one to see the possible effects of each and if found to cause problems, stop taking.
- Anxiety and/ or stress are one of the most important instigating or enhancing factors.
These should be kept under control by whichever means they can be. It is better to ask for medicines for these and IBS from your GP or preferably from a Gastroenterologist.
- You may have to take pre and probiotics capsules in appropriate dosages.
- Getting symptomatic relief is also very important..
- Continue treatment for stomach/ hiatal hernia, digestive enzymes with food and multivitamins.
, You can get a good relief by permutations and combinations of various factors as we discussed above.

I hope this answer helps you, please feel free to ask for further relevant queries if you feel that there is a gap of communication so that we can continue the discussion till you get results.

With warm regards.
