Question : i was in RTA i was cyclists hit by a car on the left side my left leg and lower back are in consistent pain since i have had an mri and there is impinges om the left desending nerve roots i am wondering if this pain is from the impact or do the left desending nerves from your lumber spine travel down your left leg?

                                    Brief Answer:
Pain is from pressure on lumbar nerve roots
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing in to us.
I have read through your query in detail.
Please find my observations below.
1. The nerves supplying the leg originate from the spinal cord in lower back. If there is pressure on nerve roots then you will feel pain in lower back and legs. Probably when you got injury then you fell on your back or there was sudden jerk to your lower back. This caused the findings which are seen on the MRI scan.
Hope your query is answered.
Please do write back if you have any doubts.
Regards,

thank you for your answer and yes i did land on my back, but where do the left decending nerves from your lumber spine travel down your left leg? im not sure if this pain is nerve pain or still from the impact, i also have some pain in my right leg but i am assuming dahs because ive being using my right leg to get around and have being over compassionate because of the injury to my left leg

                                    Brief Answer:
Longer duration pain from pressure on lumbar nerve root
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing back with an update.
1. Your problem occurred when you landed on the back. The nerve roots form the lumbar plexus and then form nerves which travel down the leg. It can cause pain in left and right legs.
2. If you were hit within 15 days then pain can be from impact if it is over injury location.
3. Pain after longer time which is going down from hip to leg is due to the pressure on lumbar nerve roots.
Hope your query is answered.
Please do write back if you have any doubts.
