Brief Answer:
Steam inhalation and some antiallergics should help

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

Most often such episodes occur due to certain viral infections. Irrespective of treatment it usually takes 5-7 days to recover. Antibiotics are not helpful in a viral infection. You need to give paracetamol/acetaminophen to bring down temperature as and when required. You should also give some antiallergics. Ascoril LS contains a mucolytic and an allergic and should be helpful. Also give steam inhalation. Just sit the child on your lap and place the source of steam before you. The child will automatically breathe it in. Water in the form of vapour will reach deep inside and would provide relief.

You will have to be patient as it may take some time. Unless the child grows lethargic you need not worry.

Hope that helps.

Regards
