Question : I was awoken during the night with a very uncomfortable feeling of being cold inside. My skin was warm, so I was not cold, only feeling cold to the point of shuddering. At the same time there was a fluttering sensation in the area of my heart, but my heart seemed to be beating normally. ???

I understand your concern and would like to explain that it seems to be just a bout of anxiety (frequently expressed as a nightmare).

As your heart beating looked normal and no other associated complaints were present at that time (besides feeling cold), it exists a very low probability to have been a cardiac arrhythmia or any other cardiac disorders.

So, just relax!

In case of any other disturbances, I recommend you to perform a medical checkup, including a careful physical exam) and additional tests like:

- resting ECG,
- complete blood count,
- thyroid function tests,
- fasting glucose,
- kidney function tests,
- liver function tests,
- blood lipid profile
