Brief Answer:
Sore throat for a month

Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome

I appreciate your concern

The throat needs to be examined for possible tonsillitis or pharyngitis. Throat swab for culture can be sent. A rapid strep test can also be done and antibiotics can be started empirically based on clinically evident tonsillitis or pharyngitis. Saline or Listerine gargles, honey, antihistamines like loratidine can also be helpful in soothing the throat. Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen can be taken for associated pain or fever. In addition the oral cavity should also be examined for any aphthous ulcers. GERD is one of the possible causes for a chronic sore throat. PPIs like pantoprazole would help in this regard. Consult your GP to examine your throat and advise accordingly.
