Question : I have been having severe vaginal pain for over a year. It started right after my husband passed away. My GYN told me it was a yeast infection. I was prescribed over 30+ XXXXXXX to no avail. I changed my GYN and was told that I have a tear in my vagina with exposed nerves. She prescribed Estrace cream over six months ago. Two days ago, I had the most severe pain in my vagina while sleeping that sent pain down both of my legs.

Brief Answer:
You probably need hormone replacement therapy.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
I understand your concerns. But vaginal pain is not unusual in post menopausal women and usually occurs due to hormone deprivation. The condition can be aggravated by traumatic incidents like the passing away of your husband. Estrace cream contains estradiol, a form of estrogen. It was the right medicine to be given. But if that does not suffice and since you have still got another episode two days back, I think that you should talk to your gynecologist about hormone replacement therapy. I hope that would make a difference in your situation.
Let me know if I could be of further help.
Regards
