Brief Answer:
Please choose MRI machine with open magnet

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail. I do encounter patients who dislike closed spaces and have to get a MRI scan done.
Please find my observations below.

1. You can opt for certain MRI machines that have an open high field magnet. This is more like a flat couch without the wheel like device called gantry.

2. There are machines having open upright magnet but these are not too popular.

3. You can consult a clinical psychologist and learn mental relaxation techniques and put them to use when getting MRI done.

4. At any point you feel uncomfortable then you can ask your technologist for help and suspend the MRI examination and restart as per your comfort and suitability.

Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Regards,
Dr.Vivek
