Question: Hello,

I am 29 Male; I contracted chicken pox a month back and it took a course valacyclovir 500 Mg 3 Tablets a day for 7 days and another 2.5 weeks of quarantine to recover and get a go-ahead from my GP to resume my routine. It's been some 5 days since then. Apart from the marks however, the other day I developed 3 pimples on my face (2 of them had small wihte heads). i visited my doctor, who after having a look at those assured me that they are unrelated to chicken pox and suggeted using Nadoxin cream (Nadifloxacin) for these pimples. Today, I noticed another sore on my stomach with a small white head in the middle. I have had issues with occasional boils on face and back but never on stomach other than when I had chicken pox and am worried why is this still happening. Please advise and help...

Thank You.

Brief Answer:
folliculitis

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your very clear photos.
The last of the abdominal wall is suggestive of folliculitis with pus formation.
The ones on the face are also similar and the picture shows that the white head is gone as you have mentioned.

Chicken pox at your age of 29 has more problems than if this occurs in a child. Adults take far more time to recover fully from such viral infections with skin manifestations that you had due to chicken pox.

I would advise you the following:
Continue Nadoxin locally.
Take multivitamins regularly as it helps recovery from chicken pox and helps rejuvenate the skin, which looses its integrity allowing such infections to oocur as you have got these.

Keep a close watch, if more of such lesions appear, you may need oral antibiotic (on a prescription of your Doctor.

I hope this answer helps you.

Thanks again sir,
Yes, I am taking Multi-vitamins in the form of Cobadex CZS apart from lots of liquids, missed that for 2 days though.
One last question, I hope I would no longer be possibly spreading chickenpox to people I come in contact with, or is it?

Brief Answer:
Infectivity is - 2 days before rash and till scabs form

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your feedback.
Missing Cobadex for a few days is no problem.

You are not spreading Chicken pox because - for chickenpox, the infectious period is as long as 5 days. It is usually 1 - 2 days before the rash appears and until all the vesicles have formed scabs, usually within 5 days of rash onset.
It is already a month hence it is safe for others.
