You need to have work up for facial flushing
Detailed Answer:
Hi! Welcome to health care magic!
The redness which you have mentioned can be due to a variety of causes and needs a detailed workup. It is mostly due to overactivation of sympathetic nervous systen in the body. First of all you need to keep your blood pressures readings in check, and make a chart to monitor any fluctuations. If it is associated with burning or rash or photosensituivity, get a review by your GP as in that case automimune diseases workup is needed though 60 years is quite late for any such disease to present. Then if it is painless and not associated with any signs of migraine headaches or upper respiratory tract infection, you may need to have blood screening for Hemoglobin and red cell count, as any increases may present with this. Similarly workup for hyperthyroidism, pheochromocytoma and carcinoid syndrome may be needed for any endocrine abnormalities with thyroid levels, and urine for VMA. Lastly a doppler of neck vessels may be needed to rule out any obstruction in drainage through the head and neck. Restrict or decrease alcohol and caffiene use. Use sunblock after discussing with your GP.
Hope this has answered your query, if you have any more questions, feel free to ask else kindly close the discussion. Regards.
