Suggest Remedy For Scar On Foot Post Surgery

Question: Hi, thanks for considering my question. I'd like your opinion about scarring, although it's internal so I'm not sure if a dermatologist is the correct specialist to ask. I've also sent my question to an orthopedic surgeon.

6 weeks ago I had outpatient surgery on the bottom of my foot at the base of my 2nd toe to remove a large benign mass. It healed well but there remains a good amount of internal scarring, or possibly remaining swelling? When I walk, it feels like I'm stepping on a flat rock. I was able to put a tennis shoe on today, very loosely tied, but still had to put my weight on the outside of my foot because it's still too uncomfortable to walk normally. Can I expect this type of scarring to resolve over time? Can I do anything to hurry it along? I'm massaging it and applying hot compresses three times a day. In the mean time, should I try to walk with a normal stride to the extent I can?

Thanks so much. XXXXXXX

To recapitulate: Female/57 - Surgery to remove a large benign mass at the base of 2nd toe -6 weeks ago - healed well - internal scarring - possibly remaining swelling - flat rock feeling on stepping - uncomfortable to walk normally - massaging and applying hot compresses - have three queries:
1. Can I expect this type of scarring to resolve over time?

2. Can I do anything to hurry it along? I'm massaging it and applying hot compresses three times a day.

3. In the mean time, should I try to walk with a normal stride to the extent I can?

May I please know a few details on examination that you can do?
- Does it feel hard if you palpate the scar with finger
- Can you differentiate the swelling as hard from the surrounding if you try to hold with two fingers from sides like pinching?
- Is there a line of differentiation between the scar tissue or a lump and the surrounding?
- Can you please post clear photographs in different angles for me to see to have visual impression?

Answers to these questions can give me an idea and discuss further to give you possible diagnosis and treatment.

Thanks you.
