Suggest Remedy For Severe Abdominal Pain

default
Posted on Wed, 3 Jun 2015
Question: I woke up today in the morning with a sharp pain in my lower left abdominal area. I haven't been able to poop all day. I took 4 tablets of Ducolax at about 9am. It's now 6:30pm and I still have the same pain and still haven't been able to poop. I touch the area, and it's mild sharp pain below my belly buton to the left. If i stand up theres mild pain, if I lay down theres mild discomfort.

Brief Answer:
constipation

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and I understand your concern. This pain in the left lower quadrant is secondary to the constipation. If 4 tablets of laxative have not done the job then next step is transrectal enema and manual evacuation with a lubricated gloved finger for which you may need to visit ER.

After this you need to focus on dietary change and exercise rather than laxatives, enemas, and suppositories, none of which really address the underlying problem.

The key to treating constipation is correction of dietary deficiencies, which generally involves increasing intake of fiber and fluid and decreasing the use of constipating agents (eg, milk products, coffee, tea, alcohol).

I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and don't forget to close the discussion please.

Khan
