Suggest Remedy For Severe Aches And Pain On Upper Front Body

default
Posted on Mon, 11 Aug 2014
Question: In the last 4 days i have been experiencing quite severe aches and pain in my upper front body. It seemed to come out of nowhere and when i eat or drink after i swallow i get a painful rising sensation from the middle of my ribs back toward my throat. I also have a sensation of a lump in my throat. These upper body pains are on and off and are managed with ibuprofen. It does not feel to me like heartburn or indigestion. Im worried about GERD or a hernia. Please could i have your proffesional opinion. Many thanks.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

As your symptoms are associated with swallowing, esophageal issue or stomach issue are the most probable reasons of your problem. It might be GERD or hiatal hernia indeed. However stomach inflammation should be ruled out especially if the symptoms have been present before.
I suggest you to visit your doctor and start with PPIs (proton pump inhibitors) like Omeprasole along with diet change (avoid fatty foods, spicy foods, coffee, chocolate, orange juice).
If this wont help, gastroscopy should be the next step.

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
