Question : I was diagnosed with unserological arthritis about 15 years ago. i used Methotrexate and Cymbalta for about ten of those years. Due to moving away from my physician, I did not continue with his care. I still have joint pain in my hands and knees mostly, but my main concern has been the increased amount of Hair Loss that I have been experiencing over the past year. I have lost about half of my hair and it continues to come out drastically when I shampoo. Could this be a symtom of this arthritic condition? If so, is there anything that can be done or any medication I could take for it. Also, just a note, regarding my only other health condition. I have had Type I Diabetes for 37 years, and I am 64 years old. Any information would be most appreciated. Thank you. XXXXXXX
Brief Answer:

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns
I am sorry to hear that you are losing your hair. you are concerned that you are losing your hear due to your arthritic condition. There is a condition called alopecia errata the can cause hair loss that is autoimmune related. Unfortunately there are no treatments to help stop the hair loss from alopecia errata. So even if you were on therapy for your arthritis this would not stop or reverse the process.
To help minimize your hair loss you could try rogaine for women.
I am so sorry that I could not give you any more additional help or information to help with your hair loss.
