Suggest Remedy For Severe Headaches And Burning Sensation

default
Posted on Mon, 5 Oct 2015
Question: My brother in law is 40 years old. From the last 8 months, he is experiencing some clutching and heating sensation in the rear left half of his head. He feels as if there is some sort of burning sensation towards inside of the skull in the left side of the skull from backside of the ear towards the eyes(not pain). Also he sometimes feels heaviness in the eyes.
He has carried out CT scan and MRI scans of the brain in which no major problem was detected, though there was some kind of hyper intensity in left perventricular region reported in the report.
He has consulted the local neurologists and other doctors who have given him tablets mostly nervous tonics for relieving tension in the nerves. Some have also said that the problem is related to cervical of neck and have given ointments etc for that.
He is now taking tab neurikind, mentat and sibelium 10mg. He is feeling some relief with these medicines.
But the problem is still persisting and there is no sign of relief.
Please suggest.

Brief Answer:
Provide more details regarding headache

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Primary headache is the most plausible diagnosis with normal MRI brain.
Unilateral headache can be migraine or cluster headache.
The duration of cluster headache is small and is associated with orbital symptoms also. Migraine pain is throbbing, nausea and vomiting and photophobia or phonophobia present.
Tension type headache is sometimes unilateral neck region pain.
Tension type headache is usually bilateral, constricting without any nausea vomiting and with sleep disturbances and anxiety or stress.

For treatment he may continue sibelium and take amitriptyline also.
Short duration pain killers like naproxen can be used.
Other medications are also available like topiramate, valproate, duloxetine depending upon the type of headache and response to treatment.
Provide details regarding duration, intensity, nausea, vomiting, aggravating and receiving factors.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
