Suggest Remedy For Severe Pain In Side Of Neck And Difficulty In Sleeping

Question: I have great difficulty in sleeping more than 1 or 2 hours straight per night. I have severe pain in lower left side of neck from various trauma due to an auto accident. Doctors prescribe pain meds but I am very hesitant to take them due to addictive personality I have. Do you suggest anything else. Have taken gabapentin and other meds with no results.

Short course of pain medicines are not addicting-usually anti-inflammatory drugs are a must to control infammation and pain.tramadol is also non addicting and may be used for pain relief.since you cant sleep, shorter course of oxycodone or vicodin may be considered by yur treating doctor
Youmay support your neck among pillows on either side of neck or alternatively use a soft collar to restrict neck movements.Apply local muscle-relaxant gels either prescription or over the counter.
Sleep is necessary to break viscious circle of movement-awakefulnss-restlessness-pain
If your doctor agrees to above suggested remedies, it may help
Elavil(amytrptaline) is alsoa good helpfor anxiety,restless sleep.
