Question: I would like to figure out what my dad has. He is having a severe sore throat. In addition, there is pain around the nose are though there's not much phlegm that comes out but when it does, it's red. He has a slight headache, but I think it's because he was unable to sleep well. What could it be?

Brief Answer:
Of he is a diabetic, take him to an ER.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

1. This seems to be a Sinusitis and Pharyngitis.

2. However the red nasal discharge signifies a severe problem.

3. If he is a diabetic, take him to an ER.

4. There is insufficient information to diagnose any more at this moment. Hence an immediate nasal and throat examination is recommended.

5. I would advise against treating this at home. If his examination is normal, then this should be easily treatable with routine medication.

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.

Regards.
