Suggest Remedy For Sore Foot Along With Poor Nail Growth
Question: Dear Doctor, my question is in relation to peripheral Artery Disease..please find attached a photo of one of my mother's foot..the sore foot is not healing..As you can see she poor nail growth and think nail on her toe...her legs are hairless and she doesn't want to.walk anymore...her cholesterol ratios are elevated.

This foot ulcer ie sore does not look good at all. It needs prompt medical attention. If I were her, I would go to the podiatrist and general surgeon immediately.
She needs good medical management too of the risk factors such as treatment of the high cholesterol and others as applicable to her eg. smoking, diabetes, high blood pressure
When I see someone like you in my practice, I typically order the following blood tests in addition to a detailed physical examination:
CBC (Complete Blood Count, also known as Hemogram; includes Hemoglobin, WBC and Platelet counts)
Electrolytes (Sodium and Potassium in particular)
HbA1c (Glycosylated Hemoglobin = your 3 month glucose average)
Liver function tests (SGOT , SGPT, Albumin, Bilirubin, Alkaline Phosphatase)
Kidney function tests (BUN, Creatinine)
TSH
25 hydroxy Vitamin D
