Question : I just found out that I Have type II. I am on the Metiformin 1,000 mgs twice a day. I don't know if it the meds or a flu type. I had nausa no vomiting before taking the med. Have for two full days. Now have lots of gas, stomach pain and heartburn???

All the symptoms mentioned by your Nausea, Gas, Stomach pain are side effects of Metformin. But there is no need to stop it as these symptoms go off in few days

I need to know whether you are taking Metformin before or after food as taking this tablet before food increases the chances of the side effects and hence I advise you to take this medicine after food.

Thats the reason why you are having these side effects. Take the tablet 10-15 minutes after the meals.

Still having all the side effects. Taking meds now 10-15 minutes after meal. How long will this last been on the Metiformin since XXXXXXX 22, 2015?

Wait for 2 weeks.

HI

Keep continuing Metformin after meals for 2 more weeks . If the symptom persists then you need to be changed to other drug.

For the time being yo can take Perinorm tablet ( ask your doctor for prescription ) for 2-3 days , this will subside your symptoms.
