Suggest Remedy For Strong Smell In Urine And Incomplete Emptying Of Bladder

default
Posted on Sat, 21 Feb 2015
Question: Hello. Three days ago I experienced problems emptying my bladder. I then returned to the restroom about 5-10 minutes later and finished emptying my bladder with no problem. Today I noticed strong smelling urine throughout the entire day. The smell was as if I had not drank any water. My fluid intake was no less than usual and I was definitely urinating more than usual. I took an at home UTI test and the nitrite came out negative and the leukocytes came out positive. I'm not in any pain and no fever. I've never had a UTI. Could this be a UTI ? Is it something I can treat at home? From what i've heard UTI's cause a lot of pain and since I'm pain free I'm thinking this might not be an issue. In the last few days I've taken about 3 doses of Gabapetin which is a new medicine for me so I'm unfamiliar with side effects. I take it for nerve pain. Thanks!

Brief Answer:
mild uti needs management

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking
I read your question and I understand your concern. Women get UTIs quite often you are lucky you did not get it much. What you are having now is mild form of uti and is nothing to worry about. You just need a little modifications like drinking plenty of fluids at least 8 glasses of water. It is 1.5 litre of water in a single day. We call it a judicious water intake. Increase garlic intake. Take cranberry juices.
Avoid intimacy or self touching of any kind for a while. Adapt good toilet habits like minimal douching, front to back unidirectional cleaning of genitals , keeping the genitals washed and avoid too much soaps and cosmetics. Just use hypoallergenic hygiene gels and rinse it like a shampoo.
You don't have any symptoms worth medications yet but if these conservative modifications did not suffice or started having fever or rigors or chills you may visit a doctor you will get prescribed with a few antibiotics probably quinolones with other symptomatic therapy.
Nutshell it's a mild uti episode and should resolve on its own provided the precautions are taken.
I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and don't forget to close the discussion please.
