Question : How to stop my skin from feeling like sunburn- I am a type 2 diabetic - prior to having neck surgergy (Nov 17, 2014) (4-7 fused) I took neurontin and tramado. Have not taken neurontin since Dec 4, 2014 (did not like side effects) 5 week after surgery started having sunburn sensation (shoulders, neck, face, arms). Now 8 wks after surgery I just had an MRI and am to see a neurologist in 2 wks...WHAT CAN I DO IN THE MEAN TIME. Tramadol 50 mg/ 8 hrs seems to be helping less and less

Detailed Answer:
Hi Sir.

I understand your query and concern.

You seem to have Dermatomal hyperpathia/Segmental hyperpathia,a sequel of cervical fusion surgery.

This can be due to the excessive firing of local nerve roots.

Drugs like Pregabalin 150 mg twice a day can be very helpful in relieving the pain.

Additionally Inj.Methycobalamin 500 mcg for 7 days followed by tab Neurokind 500 mg once every alternate day for 3 months is enough in most cases.

By above regimen,the pain should subside in 7 days.

In case if its still persisting,I advise you to have a Check MRI to document any pathological cord changes.
