Suggest Remedy For Swelling And Pain On Outer Area Of The Foot

default
Posted on Wed, 6 May 2015
Question: I have pain on the outer area of my left foot. I have had some swelling the past few days, and have iced and elevated off and on during this time. It hurts to walk on my left foot. I believe this injury occurred when I stepped off my front porch steps and almost fell. The way I landed on my foot was pretty strange. I've had no bruising in the last 72 hours.

Brief Answer:
Fracture should be ruled out by x ray.,

Detailed Answer:

Hi
Thanks for your query

I'm Dr Sudhir Kumar

I have gone through your query and understand your concern. You may be having soft tissue injury to your left foot but sometimes such presentation is with fracture base of 5 th metatarsal. So It will be better to get x ray of your left foot to rule out fracture. Icing and elevated is helpful in reducing swelling. Analgesic such as ibuprofen for pain relief is helpful.Vitamin B and C is helpful in recovery. Splint provide rest to foot and is advisable.

You can discuss with your doctor about it.

Hope your query is answered. If you have any clarification then I will be happy to help you.

Wishing you a good health.
Take care.
