Suggest Remedy For Swelling On Arm After Shooting Cocaine

Question : I've been shooting up in my hands for awhile now.. Ive had an area i was using frequently that started to look red so I've been using a different area. Well last night while shooting cocaine i stuck the area as i have before just to drain any possible fluid and its began to swell.. I've iced first, and then warm Epsom salt soak. Still pretty swollen but right now doesn't seem to be getting worse.. What should i look for as far as needing to see a Dr? I have the anti biotic ciprofloxacin hcl 750 mg, should i take some to prevent abcess?

Hi,

I am sorry to hear that you are shooting cocaine and you are so young.

Anyway, that's your decision. I always advise my patients to love their life and consider as a gift.

Now, if the area of shooting got swollen last night, then, I advise to apply cold compresses for the next 24 hours. It will get better for sure.

If the swelling won't improve within a couple of days, then you can take ciprofloxacin once daily for next 5 days.

Thank you for the advice. And you're right, my life is a gift and a gift i intend on giving my children by being here for them. I quit for 2 months and just started back a week ago. For what reason i have no clue because i hadn't thought about it for awhile. I broke every syringe i had last night and have no urge, intention, or way to get more. I'm so disgusted with my self. And not one person in my family knows not even my husband. So getting support to quit wasn't ever an option. The only people i have are my enablers.. I can guarantee this won't happen again.. I finally got the scare i needed to say enough is enough.. And again thank you
