Brief Answer:
The lymph nodes are reducing in size.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for writing back.

1. There is a definite reduction of the size of the lymph nodes (9mm & 7mm) as compared to the USG report dated 15.9.15 (1.8 x 0.6 mm).

2. Some of these nodes can remain enlarged life long with no consequences.

3. Any node less than 10mm is not considered important.

4. What you feel in the neck may or may not be a lymph node. It would be difficult to comment on a image. However a local physician can palpate the lump and decide. In addition, if a repeat USG Neck is normal, no further treatment is necessary.

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.

Regards.

Brief Answer:
Lymphadenopathy means swollen lymph nodes.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for writing back.

1. Lymphadenopathy is a common medical term that means enlarged lymph nodes (from any cause).

2. Tubercular lymph nodes are usually multiple, matted (Stuck together) and do show central caseation. Caseous necrosis can also occur in other infections.

3. Hence this does not seem to be TB. You can, however, get a USG guided FNAC (Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology) and PCR test done to conclusively rule out TB.

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.

Brief Answer:
Yes, nothing serious in the report.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for writing back.

1. You can wait and watch. If the size of the lymph nodes remains the same or decreases, no further action is necessary.

2. TB nodes will not regress and will increase in size an number in time.

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.

Answered by Dr. Sumit Bhatti (8 hours later)
Brief Answer:
Yes, you can follow up after some time.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for writing back.

1. Yes, we can follow this up a few weeks from now. There is no harm in some lymph nodes being slightly palpable life long.

2. For the cough, take an anti-allergic medication (such as Tab. Montair-FX or Tab. Allegra-M once a day), a cough syrup (such as Syp. Reswas or Syp. Ascoril-D one teaspoon twice a day) for a week, a medicated gargle (such as Betadine or Tantum) and let me know the progress.

3. Try home remedies such as turmeric (haldi) in warm milk at night and Dabur XXXXXXX Vaani during the day.

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.

Regards.
