Question: I had my last period 46 days ago having had unprotected sex on days 14, 21 and 24 of my cycle. I had been taking the progesterone-only pill but forgot to bring them on holiday with me. I have had 4 negative tests but feel pregnant. Tingling nipples, early morning nausea, metallic taste in my mouth, vaginal secretions smell different-not unpleasant but not 'my' normal. Also experiencing period-like cramping at times. Could I be pregnant?

Brief Answer:
Do blood test for beta-hCG.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing to us.

Infrequent taking pill or missed pill may lead to unwanted pregnancy and you did unprotected sex around fertile days (D14).

In this case, I suggest you to undergo one blood test for beta-hCG to exclude late conception. It is more worthwhile and confirmatory.

Hormonal imbalance, mental stress/ anxiety, pelvic or vaginal infection etc may be underlying causes in absence of pregnancy.

Hope, it helps for your information. Kindly, revert back to me following test results.

Good luck.

Regards,
Dr S Patra
