                                            Question : Good morning,
I have an unexplained circular bruise on my calf. I first noticed it 5 days ago and I was alarmed as it was red and 1 inch length, and did nothing to cause that kind of bruise. I did not bump into anything or had some kind of trauma. Being that it is five days later I am more concerned as the bruise has grown a half inch in length and is still red in the center but branches out into a deep purple. It does not hurt to walk or to touch it.

                                    Brief Answer:
It looks like a Bacterial infection of the skin.
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
This seems like a Bacterial infection like Erysipelas. Do you have any fever?
I suggest you see a Dermatologist who can best advice you the optimum treatment .
I usually advice my patients Tab Augmentin thrice a day and local Mupirocin ointment twice a day. This usually helps relieve the lesion in 5 to 7 days.
Do let me know if there are any other concerns.
Take care.
