Brief Answer:
Osteoporosis treatment

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

You are wondering what medication is the safest for treatment of osteoporosis. The medications for osteoporosis like actonel and fosamax all carry the risk of osteomalacia of the jaw and can cause abnormal bone growth of the jaw. The other medications like prolia work on a different mechanism and have less problem with jaw bone growth but are much more expensive and may not be covered by prescription program. It is an injection every 6 months. There is also a medication called Forteo which is an injection that you give every day but most people don't like giving shots on a daily basis. The last option is hormone therapy like evista or estrogen but they carry the risk of blood clots

You have several options but you will need to talk with your medical provider as to which medication is the best option.

Choices
1. Fosamax, Actonel, Boniva and Reclast
2. Forteo
3. Prolia
4. Evista or hormone replacement
