Question : Hello sir/madam, it is regarding my wife, name: XXXXXXX 40F. she is feeling some tiredness and the BP was recording around 160/100. can you please suggest some medicines for BP.

Hello,

A single reading of high BP could be due to many physiological factors like emotions, stress, exercise, etc. It is better to check blood pressure daily. If it is consistently raised then take dietary precautions and exercise daily. In diet you need to reduce salt and sugar content. Also include more of fruits in your diet. Also routine blood tests and ECG should be done to find any hidden cause. Blood tests include complete blood count, thyroid profile, kidney function test including serum electrolytes, liver function test, lipid profile. fasting blood sugar.

Regarding medicine, I usually prescribe amlodipine 5 mg once day to my patients.
