Brief Answer:
MRI scans in hamartomas are done after 6 to 12 months and after few years

Detailed Answer:
Hi xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx,
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.
Please find my observations below.

1. Hamartomas in brain are slow glowing benign tumors in children.

2. It is recommended to repeat a MRI scan at 6 months after the first scan and then follow up at 12 months to confirm lack of significant growth. If the benign nature is confirmed and no significant growth is found then the next MRI scan can be done after 4 years or more. This is the usual trend but every patient is different and therefore the interval between scans can vary on an individual basis.

3. However the follow up MRI scan always depends on the clinical features and appearance of new symptoms which necessitate an earlier scan

Hope your query is answered.
