Suggest Tests To Rule Out Lyme Disease

Question: I live in central Michigan, was outside in back yard next to the woods at dusk, saw a brown bug/tick/spider? on my calf, tried to brush it off. It felt like a little wood chip , i dug my nail under it and it came off. Once inside the house it bled, I think there were at least 3 punctures. My nail had dug out a quarter inch area. It is an hour later. I am fine ( never any symptoms..didn't feel the bite, no swelling or itching) but am worrying about lyme tick disease. Is that a possibility, do I need to rule it out?

Brief Answer:
insect bite

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for the query

Most insect bites are benign and does no harm. Here is what I suggest you to do

1. clean the wound well with water and antiseptic agent. If the wound has stopped bleeding there is no need to cover it
2. keep the area clean at all times and avoid moisture
3. There is no real need to worry about Lyme disease as of now. However if you develop fever and back ache 3 days from now, I recommend that you start doxycycline twice daily. Early treatment is extremely helpful. So if you develop fever and body aches, see your doctor.
4. Since you are currently asymptomatic I suggest you to just wait and watch

I hope I was of help, if you have any further queries please get back to me
