Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome on HCM!

Regarding your concern, I would like to explain that 2.5 mg Norvasc is quite a small dose and you don't need to break it in half.

The usual initial dosage of Norvasc is 5 mg/day and depending on patient's response (blood pressure values achieved), it may be increased by 2.5 mg/day every 7-14 days.

Usually it is not exceeded 10 mg/day and the maintenance daily dose: 5-10 mg.

Remember that the treatment should be scheduled on a daily regimen, without pause days.

You need to check your liver function tests (besides other lab tests: complete blood count, BUN, creatinine, blood electrolytes level, thyroid hormone level, etc), before starting chronic anti-hypertensive therapy.

Hope to have been helpful to you!

In case of any further uncertainties, do not hesitate to ask me again!

Kind regards,

Dr. Iliri
