Suggest Treatmemt For Ankle Sprain And Swelling

Question : I am am male, 65 years old, 5'11", 221 pounds. A week ago I sprained my ankle severely. It has improved talthough I did do a lot of walking in Vegas, so that hindered the improvement. Nevertheless I can walk on it, and it gets better by the day, It's still swollen. This morning I developed sharp pains on the top of my foot. The pain is pulsing, say every two minutes. It feels like a pinched nerve. I don't know. but it hurts like hell, and I wonder how I'll ever be able to sleep with this pain. What can I do?

Thanks for your query.

I have read your case and it looks to me that you may have sustained either a hair line fracture or grade 3 sprain at foot or ankle.To confirm this diagnosis it is better to get proper investigation.
I would suggest you to go to emergency and get x ray of ankle and foot both.

I want to ad that fracture or no fracture; you will need some kind of immobilization for pain relief like plaster or cast. You can also get some injections there so you can sleep properly.

You can send those x ray images to me. I will try to guide you about further management.
