Posted on Fri, 6 Nov 2015
Question: Hello, i just took a test for adult adhd on the psych central website. I was surprised that it had a lot of the things I have been feeling and I scored quite high for possible adhd. I currently take Wellbutrin and I would like to discuss possibly some moderate medication for adhd and am willing to see dr more to make sure I'm ok on it but I'm worried my dr may just think I am seeking meds for no reason. Any thoughts? I am a 35 yo female.

Brief Answer:
state your symptoms only.....do not mention drugs

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

Doctors always become suspicious of all patients who request for drugs with the potential of being abused. for this reason, I will recommend that you state your symptoms only and see whether he will bring up ADHD as a possible cause. if he doesn't, ask him whether he thinks it is a possibility and if so, will you need to obtain treatment for this?

This way, you will passively guide him towards considering it as a possible disease that may need treatment without raising any suspicion.

I hope this helps. I wish you well and hope to hear from you. Feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
