Question : My 27 year old son has been taking meds for ADHD prescribed by a doctor at his graduate school. He never was diagnosed with ADHD as a child and did well in his class work and sports and socially. He is doing very well in his graduate coursework in business school but I think he is retreating from his family and friends.
Could this be his meds? How can I talk to the doctor who prescribed them?

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for using Health care magic.
I read your query and understand your concerns.
I like to know the name and dosage of prescribed medication as there are multiple medicines which are used for treatment of ADHD.
Regarding retrieving information from treating doctor it is not possible without consent of your mature son. Doctor is bound by professional ethics and he is not supposed to divulge any information.
I hope this helps you.
If you have more questions feel free to write back to me.
Thanks and regards.

Hello,
Thanks for reverting back to me.
I do not think any of these medicine causes retraction from family and friends. However the reverse is true as escitalopram increases confidence and helps in building relationship in this who have low self esteem and symptoms of depression.
Similarly adderall causes increase in concentration and academic performance.
In my opinion the medicines are there to help him in his shortcoming rather than causing problems for him.
I hope this assists you.
If you have more questions I will be glad to assist you further.
