Brief Answer:
Antifungals are given for candidiasis

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,welcome to healthcare magic.
Iam Dr.Srilatha gynaecologist.

I understand your concern.
It's good to know that the Pap smear is negative.

As the presence of fungus is suggestive of candidiasis it needs to be treated.
Candidiasis is a fungal infection which presents with curdy white vaginal discharge and itching.

The cottage cheese like vaginal discharge also suggests candidiasis.
For the candidiasis antifungal medicines should be taken.
They can be taken orally or vaginal route.

Oral antifungals include FLUCONAZOLE and they are taken as single dose.
The partner should also be treated.

The antifungals which are used through vaginal route are Clotrimazole vaginal pessaries.
They are to be taken for 1 week.

The medicines should be taken under medical guidance.
Nothing to worry. It will subside with treatment.

Avoid intercourse till infection is treated.
For itching candid dusting powder or candid ointment can be used.

Candidiasis is seen in those with low immunity, diabetes, pregnancy and some other conditions.

I suggest you to take healthy nutritional diet including fruits, veggies and others to build up the immunity.

Nothing to worry.

Hope this satisfies your query.
Feel free to discuss further.

Best regards....Dr.Srilatha

Brief Answer:
Fluconazole is helpful

Detailed Answer:
Hi there,goodday.
I have gone through your query.
The mild cases of candidiasis can be treated by:-
1) A single dose of oral fluconazole taken for only one day.It can be taken after food in day time or night time.
OR
2)The vaginal suppositaries are also effective and should be taken for 3 or 7 days.

The severe or recurrent candidiasis is treated by:-
1)Single dose of fluconazole to be taken for 2 or 3 days.
OR
2)The vaginal suppositaries are taken for 14 days.

In severe and recurrent cases the partner also might need to be treated if he has any signs of candid infection.

Always take the medicines under medical supervision.
Hope this satisfies your query.
Feel free to discuss further.
