Question : I had total hip replacement in both hips a few years ago , one of which resulted in deep vein thrombosis in one calf. Since then I have had pains in my neck and upper chest area and particularly in my thighs just above my knees. I have blamed these and other less painful ones elsewhere on osteo-arthritis. I don't take drugs except where absolutely necessary, low dose atorvastatin and
weekly alendronate sodium. Now I'm wondering if my problem might be fibromyalgia. Pains seem to come and go with the weather. Sometimes I have no pain at all.

Brief Answer:
Yes there is a possibility.
Detailed Answer:
Dear Madam,
Thank you for posting your query on HCM.
Well looking into your problem , there is a possibilty that you can be having fibromyalgia which can occur in conjunction with osteoarthritis also . But for that you have to have tender points which will be found by a rheumatologist on examination .
Since you are having chronic disorder , it is quite likely that you can have fibromyalgia . Also get a metabolic profile done , calcium , vitamin D levels , TSH to see if something else is going on . In case you have any reports send them to me to see .If you have any other query feel free to ask .
Take care.
