Brief Answer:
Please let me know some more details.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank you for using HealthcareMagic to post your question.

I reviewed your photo.
The irritation in the skin looks like an allergic reaction.

Is it painful?
Is it itchy?

Please describe how did it start? Did you apply something on your face, were you in contact with any substance that might have irritated it?
Do you use any medicine for chronic problems or other?

It is also true that people with eczema have a more sensitive skin and it reacts more easily toward contact with irritative substances.

Please let me know these pieces of information and answer those specific questions above and I will be happy to suggest what you can do to get it better.

Looking forward to your follow up question.

Regards,
Dr.Papaqako

Brief Answer:
Allergic dermatitis most likely

Detailed Answer:
Hello again,

From the way how it looks, and the fact that it is very itchy, I think it is allergic dermatitis.

I guess, that you use Topicort spray in your face, is that right?

If that is the case, I would say to not use it more than once per day because it gives permanent thin skin. Also, it is a rather strong steroid to be used in the face. To avoid side effects, the only one which is really recommended to be used in the face is Hydrocortisone 1%.

Also, the skin tends to become addicted to steroids, so you should not use it for longer than 2 weeks in a row.

Anyway, what you can use now, is a mild steroid spray or cream. It will help remove the itchiness and the inflammation. Don't use it longer- just for a couple of days until the inflammation settles down.

No need to use anything else at this point.

Hope this is helpful.
Let me know if you have other questions or concerns.

Regards,
Dr.Papaqako

I have only used topicort a few times on my face. I actually use desonate on my face for flare ups. Is desonate a Permanently skin thining steroid as well?

Brief Answer:
Desonate is having low potency too.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Every steroid can be used, but in order to minimize possible side effects, it is good to start using first the least potent.

The lowest potency one is Hydrocortisone. Desonate is higher in potency than Hydrocortisone but still considered a low potency steroid. So it is good to use Hydrocortisone instead.

While Topicort is a higher potency one, I would recommend to use it only rarely and not for longer than 3 days in a row.

Hope this helps.
