Question: hi, my baby is of 3 months 10 days. i have been giving her 100ml of formula with 3 scoops every 3 hours since past few days; total 7-8 feeds in a day (longer intervals during the night). since 2-3 days she cries a lot after 2 hrs of the feed and sucks the bottle quickly. she also cries for more after each feed. i thnk i hv already been overfeeding her since till evening she starts spitting a lot (i would rather consider it as vomit). please advice what should be the correct dose of formula satisfy her and should i start giving her cerelac

Brief Answer:
proper burping, G E R D.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for writing to us.

Firstly I would advice mothers breast milk is the best for the baby.

For what ever reasons you have started giving the formula milk you have not specified, so you may continue giving formula milk.

There s no specific dosage for the formula milk, the baby s body/nature will decide the right amount to be given, so give her/him as much as demanded.

In bottle feeds what happens is there s lot of air intake along with milk and this is the very reason your baby is throwing up frequently.

So after each feed you ll have to burp the baby before putting back to sleeping position.

Maintain hygiene to prevent bottle related infections, by doing these things you can avoid frequent vomiting and infections.

If the episodes continue, get a pediatrician to examine and rule out G E R D- gastroesophageal reflux disease.

Weaning feeds like cereal mix or cerelac should be started after 6 completed months.

Hope i have cleared your queries, regards.
