Question : I HAVE BEEN ADDICTED TO GHB FOR ALMOST 2 YEARS. MY IUD FELL OUT AND NOW I AM PREGNANT AT 37. DUE TO MY ADDICTION I AM CONSIDERING TERMINATION. DO YOU HAVE ANY FIRSTHAND EXPERIENCE WITH THE EFFECTS OF GHB ON THE DEVELOPEMENT OF FETUS IN FIRST TRIMESTER?

Hi,

Thanks for writing to us about it.

Whatever type of abusive drug use is contraindicated during pregnancy.

Most of the studies performed on animals and not on human beings, so not much data available, but it will decrease the blood supply to the brain of a fetus.

First and foremost important thing in my opinion that it is very important for you to discontinue taking the drug right now.

Go and get examine with your doctor and get your ultrasound done to determine any adverse effect of drug on fetus.

If your physician says that everything is fine you can continue your pregnancy.
