Question : Hello I was dignosed with H.pylori bacteria in my stomach. My stomach hurts as hell. I have pain in right side below rib -sharp stabbing and am on triple therapy of amoxicillin 500 mg, clarithomycin 500mg and prevacid 30 mg daily -am and pm-BEFORE MEALS -all together at once.
I have more pain, bloating, nausea, gas whenever I take medication. It usually lasts for about 2 hrs after I have taken these medications. I feel terrible.
It is my day 4th of this treatment. Is this normal??

                                    Brief Answer:
Treatment essential .Request sequential therapy
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to HCM and thanks for your query.
I understand your concern.
The triple regime for H . pylori is often difficult to tolerate and many patients complain about it.
However these medicines are essential for the eradication of the bacteria.
If you cannot tolerate the regime , request your doctor for a sequential therapy.
Best wishes,
Dr Noble Zachariah

                                    Brief Answer:
Referred pain. Doesn't infect ovaries
Detailed Answer:
H . pylori do not infect any other organ than the stomach.
The pain you feel on the right side is a referred pain from the stomach or duodenum.

What can I expect as possible side effects when I complete this medication?
Any suggestions on counter measures?

                                    Brief Answer:
No further problem if the bacteria is eradicated.
Detailed Answer:
You are most welcome.
When you have eradicated the bacteria, there is no further problem unless you get reinfected. It is a faeco-oral transmission so be careful about what you eat.
You have to eat safe food, wash your hands well and lead a very hygienic life and then there is nothing much to worry.
Wish you a good day and good health
