Question : There is moderate to severe dilation of the terminal ileal loops measuring 5.3 cms in diameter duodenal jejunal and proximal ileal loops this is report of my daughter 19 years old what does this mean and how complex it is? What is the treatment.

Hi
Moderate to severe dilatation of terminal ileal loop could mean your daughter is suffering from Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).
It involves chronic inflammation of duodenal, jejunal and ileal part of your digestive tract.
I would advise her to do a colonoscopy test.
This test will allow to view thw entire colon using a thin, flexible, lighted tube with an attached camera.
A small samples of tissue which is called biopsy can be taken for laboratory analysis, which may help confirm a diagnosis.
I would advise your daughter to take anti inflammatory drugs such as aminosalicylates group of drugs like sulfasalazine with your doctors advise.
If untreated IBD can lead to complications such as severe bleeding, a hole in the colon ,liver disease,severe dehydration and bone loss.
I would advise your daughter to limit dairy products.
She should eat small meals. She can eat five or six small meals a day rather than two or three larger ones.
She must drink plenty of fluids daily.
Water is best and she must talke 3 litres a day. She must abstain from taking alcohol and beverages that contain caffeine.
