Question : Hello,

I just recently moved and I need to fill a prescription from my adhd psychiatrist in my new state. I have the prescription, do you know where it can be filled since it is a controlled substance?

I am also have ibs symptoms today and feel sick. Would it be possible to get a doctor's note as my work does not allow time off during big sales (I am a salesperson). And is there anything that can treat these symptoms.

Brief Answer:
Consultation

Detailed Answer:
Hello, and thanks for your question.

Most pharmacies should be willing to fill a valid prescription even for a controlled substance. They may need to call your prescribing physician to confirm the prescription is valid or to have the physician fax them an updated prescription, so I would call your doctor to alert them that you are trying to fill this prescription.

Unfortunately doctors cannot write notes without physically assessing a patient. However, with regard to treatment options, there are over the counter options such as Imodium, but prescription medications such as Lomotil, or antidepressants such as sertraline or escitalopram, are typically more effective in the long run.
