Hi Dr. The pills arrived. I am feeling so well, so much less IBS pain. I don't think I want to start taking these Medevinines. Also I have stopped taking the Librax as found it ineffective. If I do get a return of the IBS abdominal pain, what do you recommend as daily dosage? And will these ease the constipation I experience from the IBS? Thankyou......... XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
IBS

Detailed Answer:
For abdominal pain,I recommend dicyclomine that has less effect on mucous membrane secretions and produce fewer undesirable side effects. You can be have it as and when required basis ( standard - PO 80 mg/day in 4 equally divided doses).

For constipation either you use Psyllium husk also known as ispaghula 3–4 g bid with meals, then adjust or Linaclotide 290 μg qd.
However Linaclotide is a prescription drug.

Have had no pain relief from dicyclomine, and psylium doesnt help the IBS constipation. What relieves me is the Linzess, which I take on an as needed basis, when I'm quite stopped up, don't use it every day. So now finally want your recommendation on what Dr Shoaib XXXXXXX strongly recommended, the chlordiazepoxide mebeverine capsules, that I finally received today. All I care about is relief of pain and constipation, which now seems to be under control thru diet. But if the abdominal pain returns, how should I use the c/m pills received from XXXXXXX today? Thanks..

Brief Answer:
IBS

Detailed Answer:
Since your pain and constipation is now under relief with diet , you need not take medicine for that. In case abdominal pain etc returns, start with the combination of Chlordiazepoxide 5 mg and Mebeverine 135 mg e.g capsule Meva-C. one capsule twice daily for a month, and then slowly wean off the medication.
