Question: hello, i am 62 year old female, strong & in good health despite being obese. Live on farm in XXXXXXX & drove cross country early May to help tend to 85 year old parents. 3 years ago I tested positive for MRSA. Am now prepared to undergo treatment (i.e., i have insurance). What type of doctor should i see? I will be here into autumn: should i make appt w/a local internist to serve as West Coast PCP, or schedule directly w/specialist? Thanks. Ins carrier is Anthem.

Brief Answer:
First see the local internist.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I would suggest to see local internist first, who can help to get primary clinical evaluation and fresh investigations done. Then refer you to appropriate specialist.

This will also save you one primary visit to specialist, where you might be just directed to get investigations done.

Also carry all medical history records and previous investigation reports with you.

Hope this helps. Please ask if there are doubts.Regards.
