Suggest Treatment For Meniere's Disease

Question: I have been dx'd with Meniere's in left ear. Had hole made in left tympanic membrane in 2009 for the purpose of dexa inj's (which did not help). The hole has never closed. If I accidentally get water in that ear, it hurts all the way to my throat. A "patch" was attempted some time back, but failed. My ENT md has never mentioned a myringoplasty. Would this help, or would it be contraindicated in Meniere's?The tinnitus is horrible. I use a machine for white noise to help with sleep. I can look at a clock and tell you my heart rate because I hear in my ears. I use earplugs for shampooing and bathing, but lost one and got water in my ear on 8/28. The pain was terrible. A lot of brown foul-smelling drainage came out of the ear overnight. Now the roaring is worse and the heart beat I hear in that ear now, sounds like a Doppler. Sounds are distorted/magnified in that ear now and it still hurts.

I have read your query , reviewed your medications and understand your concern.

There is no need to make big hole for intratympanic injection of Dexa in Meniere's disease only small needle hole in tympanic membrane in enough .

Keep ear dry (don't put any ear drop) , don’t allow water go inside while bath. Use cotton swab or ear plug during bath.

Yes , Myringoplasty will help in closing hole in ear drum but with no or little hearing improvement. Fat Myringoplasty can be done as minimal procedure .

For Meniere's disease avoid tea , coffee & excess salt .

Use capsule triamterene 50mg & Tab Prochlorperazine maleate MD 5mg HS to get relielf & prevent attack.
