Suggest Treatment For PCOD And Irregular Periods

Posted on Mon, 3 Nov 2014
Question: Hi - i am 31 and TTC from about 4 months. I have PCOD (moderate) and have had irregular periods. My dr started me on Metamorfin and i have been averaging 40 days for a period with my last cycle being 44 days. I have had my HSG test (all clear). My LH value is however on the higher side (10.6) on day 2. This cycle till day 21 no mature follicles. My dr has suggested to either start me on OCP for 3 months to bring down LH levels or laproscopic ovarian drilling. Im really confused and worried. What is my best option here? To add: i got my cycle after 24 days. The previous cycle was 44. On day 2 of this cycle my LH has dropped to 8.46.

Brief Answer:
diet and daily exercise

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Welcome to healthcare magic.

1. Polycystic ovary seems to be the reason for irregular cycles and high LH levels.

2. Since cycles are long, ovulation will be delayed ao you have not yet ovulated on Day 21. Keep follow up for another week with follicular growth scan.

3. OCP might temporarily regularise cycles but you cannot get pregnant. I dont prefer this. I suggest you go for diet and exercise daily for weight loss.

4. Weight loss will help you to regularise periods and also get pregnant.

5. Laparoscopic drilling of ovaries is not useful unless you loose weight.

Brief Answer:
low sugar and oil free diet

Detailed Answer:
Hi

You can have all foods but low sugar and oil.

LH around 4 is good. But then it's not only value that is important.
