Brief Answer:
Not serious unless periods are irregular, medicine suggested.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
PCOS is a hormonal imbalance.
It can be diagnosed by any one of 3 features -
1. Small cysts on vaginal sonogram.
2. Irregular menstrual cycles.
3. Hirsutism, acne, raised blood sugars, pigmentation on neck, axilla, groin etc.
Yes, being overweight greatly increases severity of PCOS.
Even 5 % reduction in body weight can lead to improvement in symptoms.
Women with PCOS often have painful and heavy cycles.
You can take Tablet Meftal spas 1 tablet three times a day starting from the first day of periods for 3 days.
Also, take a hot water bottle and try to rest as much as possible.
If your periods are regular, this is not a very serious condition.
All the best
