Question: Recently my father who is diabetic become unconscious and fell down during morning hours. He was also feeling feverish. We admitted him in hospital where he had undergone various tests and found out following issues: Urinary Tract Infection, little prostate enlargement and diabetes. He was treated with various antibiotic medicines. But now his diabetes lavel increased a lot he is now adviced for 3 times injection of insulin in a day. He never had this kind of high diabetes as he used to go for regular (monthly/bimonthly) checkups.

I'd like to know what could be the reason of this high diabetes. How this can be treated and controled. I've added his recent test reports with this for your reference. Kindly advise.

Brief Answer:
explained

Detailed Answer:
The cause of high diabetes could have been the infection
The uti may have been going in for sometime
Or the organism may have been strong enough to cause blood infection (sepsis)
In this situation, blood sugars may have risen.

Alternativley, his medications may not have been sufficient or may have been defective/expired. This could have resulted in high sugars. in fact that would form a base for the infection in the first place.

There is a chance that the sugars may return to the prior levels once the infection has settled.
alternatively, if that does not happen, he would be given a new anti diabetes regime at the time of discharge from the hospital
And he should stick to it diligently.

Regular home blood sugar check up with glucometer is a good idea
Best of luck
